Workplace Ombudsman to Audit South Australian Massage Businesses |
From June to September 2009 the Workplace Ombudsman will be conducting an audit of non-clinical South Australian massage businesses. The aim of the audit is to ensure that businesses are complying with the Workplace Relations Act 1996, Workplace Relations Regulations 2006 and various industrial instruments.
In the next few weeks, the Workplace Ombudsman will be sending out initial letters to business owners advising them of the state wide audit. A second letter will later be sent to selected businesses advising that the business has been selected for auditing.
For those businesses selected, the Workplace Ombudsman will request documents such as timesheets and payslips. For any breaches identified, business owners will be encouraged to voluntarily rectify them. In the case that breaches are not rectified or a considered to be serious, the Workplace Ombudsman will conduct further investigations. It is also believed that the Workplace Ombudsman will be conducting random business visits throughout the audit period.
